Episode 8:Coffee and Chocolate and Sugar, Oh My!

Episode 8: Listen Here!

We Discuss our new favorite ‘food’….. Also the Boston area Yarn crawl is happening this weekend! Events are listed here.

Did I really say Orchid Leaf Shawl? I meant Orchid Thief Shawlette! Gorgeous.

Off Our Needles:

Susan finished her Soft linen shawl….

Sally refused to leave the house  until she finished her Soay! Pictures to come, but this is a fantastic pattern by Gudrun Johnson.

Susan also finished her Fern leaf fitted Shell, and happily busted some stash. Sally whipped up a Morning Walk Headband for her daughter’s birthday. It’s a hit.

On Our Needles:

We’ve both had problems matching projects to favorite skeins of yarn this month. Sally aborted her Autumn Scarf (after some guidance from the savvy Lorna Miser) and began a TGV. She still has some reservations, but has not frogged it yet.  Susan is waffling on the 22.5 shawl, and not too thrilled with her Diagonal Lace Scarf. She is also contemplating restarting her Fallaway cardigan, which has been hibernating through the summer. Sally is nearing completion of a pair of socks for her brother, and really, it’s about time; she started them for Christmas 2010.

In our Queues:

Susan is still drooling over Cecily Glowik MacDonald’s Rosie Days, and Sally is finding ways to rationalize buying some Quince & Co. Osprey for Cecily’s Leaflet. Maybe we need to take another trip to Portland?

On our Bookshelves:

Susan has been reading up a storm:

Distant hoursThis Beautiful Life, and Winter Garden.

Sally is still talking about the audio version of The Astonishing Life Of Octavian Nothing, a historical novel set in Colonial America chronicling the adventures of a black man who gets swept into the Revolutionary War in a twist that our New England educations did not present. And she is reading her fourth Maisie Dobbs mystery.

On our Tables:

We are still gushing about our Sugar, Chocolate & Coffee Bean Grinders from Trader Joe’s.
