Episode 10: a Flurry Of Finishing

Episode 10, Listen Here

Off our needles:

Kris had a flurry of finishing this month. Off her needles are the Lavande cowl and the Trillian shawl. Pictures to come. Susan finished both her Fall Away Sweater, and her Scallop Shawl.

And they

Great together.

Speaking of the Scalloped Shawl, Susan realized that she misspoke- this shawl does not start at the point, but at the top, working down to the point and lace edging. Just seems like it starts at the point….

One more correction- Susan mentioned the Nuss Cardigan. This was designed by Cirilia Rose, NOT Norah Gaughan. Sorry!

Sally’s TGV is still off her needles, and she has a story to share.

On our needles:
Susan is very , very close to finishing her 3rd (!) Estee Necklace… and is zooming along on her Allegria…thanks to Kris for finding this pattern! Kris is nearing the bind off on her Autumn Scarf, Churchmouse Yarns and Teas Reversible Cable Neck Wrap, and Allegria Scarf. Sally is working on a Hogwarts Express Shawl and has cast on for the long awaited Zipped Vest. (She has a patient husband).

We talked about Wovember, the creation of Kate Davies and Felicity Ford. This is a site dedicated to celebrating WOOL and all it’s wonderful qualities. We discussed our love of wool, but admitted to also guiltily loving fleece. Perhaps there is a place on the planet for both.

In our Queues:
This was dominated by a discussion of possible Holiday Knitting Projects. (Although Kris is not planning on doing any Holiday Knitting.) Among the things we may or may not make this season are:

River Run Mitts
Hood River Top Down Mitts
Mitten Cuffs
Harvest Mitts
Estee Necklace (Susan has remarkable knitting stamina)
A Grey Loop Cowl
Cap A Chinos Legwarmers
Earwarmers for bike riders
Hot Water Bottle Cozies. (Wow. We better get going.)

In Our Stash:

Susan scored a new Namaste knitting bag. It is gorgeous. And it was meant to be hers. She also got the perfect buttons for her Fallaway at Freddy Farkel’s Fabulous Fabric Warehouse.

Kris has joined a few yarn clubs. Anne Hansen’s Fall Into Fall, The Plucky Knitter club, and Sundara Yarn club. All of this yarn is truly drool worthy.

I think that’s about all folks. We actually had to wrap things up because we needed to hit The Island Yarn Company before they closed. If you’re in the Boston area, it’s a wonderful store and they sell replacement Knit Picks needles and cables. Phew.

Knit on Dudes, and remember: Stay Calm And Carry Yarn.
