Episode 17: Crackin’ the WIPs!

You can listen to Episode 17 here!

Not so much OFF the needles this episode…Susan finished her Piper’s Journey shawl, made with Madtosh sport in the Sugarplum colorway; and her Wakefield Scarf, made with Blue Heron Beaded rayon.

sugarplum !

Kris and Sally had nothing off-but Kris had a lovely projects ON the needles. After much deliberation , Kris  started the Aestlight Shawl, a Gudrun Johnston design with some Plucky Knitter fingering in the Pencil Box colorway.  Sally has been doing more reading and trolling Ravelry than actual knitting….. Susan  has the Hakusa scarf on her needles, with Habu from her stash. Some silvery bamboo mixed with some pink raffia yarn-or so she thinks….ball bands were missing! But it is a very ethereal scarf.

In Our Queues:  We all love Color Affection, but think that Pendulum might be a more realistic knit.(Published in Malabrigo Quickies!) Kris found this pattern-thanks Kris! Also, Unsinkable  by Kirsten Kapur was queued recently by Kris.

In Our Stashes- Kris received another lovely kit from the Anne Hanson Knitspot club. We did rather drool over the pattern Wandering Thyme and the accompanying yarn, Eco Butterfly Organics… soft as cashmere!

Susan bought a skein of wool/silk sport from Skeinny Dipping. So pretty in the Nomad colorway!

Susan has been listening to lots of podcasts, like Knitting Brooklyn, where Jessica talked about the upcoming Stitch and Pitch 2012. Ok, now what could be better than KIP’ng at a baseball game, and a market with vendors like Lion Brand, Knitty City, the Knitting Company….so wish we could have something like this at Fenway Park!  The latest episode of Stash and Burn has a great interview with Stephen West! He was teaching a class at A Verb for Keeping Warm which sounds like the best yarn store in the world…yarn, fabric and a dyeing garden!

Speaking of fabulous yarn stores, Kris has a couple to recommend that she visited recently.

Knitwitts in Brookfield, MA and The Mermaid’s Purl in Wickford, RI.
