Episode 34: Rhinebeck Round Up & More

Hi There!

Hi There!

Listen here!

This episode found Susan and Sally sharing all their news and stash from Rhinebeck with Kris. Kris had her own stash additions. In a nutshell…

Off  The Needles:

Susan finished her beautiful Levenwick just in time to wear to Rhinebeck. We only saw one other Levenwick that day, a gorgeous one made from some Madeline Tosh (we think). The knitter kindly posed with Susan for an off the needles shot. Susan is wearing her Shoulder Cozy as well. Rhinebeck is not a place you want to stint on the wearing of your handknits.

Levenwick finished!

Susan also finished another pair of One Cable Mitts in Lavender  Classic Elite Majestic Tweed. Just in time for chilly mornings! Also off the needles is Susan’s Traveling Vines Cowl made from Malabrigo WorstedIMG_2774

Happily Ever Aftur!

Sally finally finished her Aftur. This is a great sweater: very wearable and warm.

On The Needles:

Sugared Violets! We have started a KAL on our Ravelry forum papge. It’s never too late to jump in on this. Sally is knitting hers from some Woolen Rabbit Pearl Sock yarn in the colorway Figgy Pudding. Delicious.  Susan is also using Pearl in the Rosewood Colorway.

She has also cast on for a pair of Borough Mittens with some kool-aide dyed yarn she made as an example for camp. These are already being drooled over. Let’s hope they make it to a Christmas stocking before being pounced on.

In an effort to finish up some WIPS, Susan has returned  to the Honey Cowl she began last March. LOVE this pattern! No wonder 13, 106 knitters have made this! And still pops up often on the top 20 list. The textured slip stitch shows off variegated yarn so well- Manos Silk Blend in the Wildflowers colorway- luscious!

Kris is plugging along on two somewhat boring but great-looking projects — Basalt with beautiful Fibre Company yarn and 1×1, 2×2 from Churchmouse with five adorable 25g balls of Erika Knight British Blue Wool in the Big Sister colorway.

Christine made a spreadsheet before she embarked. She had a list of all the vendors she wanted to hit and a list of patterns she wants to make with yardage requirements. I couldn’t resist a picture of the masterwork.

Susan and Sally had a more Random approach.

Sally scored two skeins of Miss Bab’s Yummy Handpainted Sock Yarn. One in the Into The Void colorway and one Impatient. She found a beautiful  addition to the duo from Lisa Souzza in the Silverlake colorway. Color Affection coming up. (don’t hold your breath though)She also scored some Bartlett Yarns Fisherman’s 2 ply in the Spice Heather colorway for a vest for her husband.

Susan could not resist some Miss Bab’s  in the Zombie Prom colorway!

Kris did some consolation shopping at Loop in Philadelphia — an expensive skein of Freia (any suggestions on what to use it for?), some Rowan Purelife Revive on sale, and a West River Drive shawl kit (the pattern is here).  Susan also convinced her to buy a beautiful skein of Manos Maxima in the Marie Antoinette colorway. Back on the yarn fast!

Kris bought Bonne Marie Burns’ Alby and is eyeing the Rye mitts.

Susan finished A Light In The Ruins and gave it two thumbs up.
Sally finished North Sea Requiem and loved it.

Kris is extremely excited that Tony Hillerman’s daughter Anne has revived the Joe Leaphorn/Jim Chee mystery series and really enjoyed Spider Woman’s Daughter.

That’s about all for now friends. Knit on,
